Following a ruling by the government of Switzerland banning all events of 1000 people or more. The organisers of the Geneva Motor show have announced the the 2020 edition would be cancelled. The show typically attracted the biggest launches of the year. Last year, the show attracted over 50,000 visitors from all over the world. Therefore it’s no surprise that the safety of people trumped the show.
When asked about the show possibly being rescheduled, they were highly doubtful, citing the size of the show. It will be interesting to see what manufacturers do in light of this development. Not only for the cars they planned to reveal in Geneva but for the rest of the year. Perhaps some online reveals or smaller live streamed events will take place instead. It is a sad day for car enthusiasts, but a decision that was made for the greater good.
